Postcard - Letter Found in Office Desk
Learning to Appreciate the Simple Things in Life from a Beloved Travel Agent
K - Busted! I know you did it. I also now know why you were nowhere to be found when I stumbled across your letter as I was packing up my bag in haste to get out the door for my flight. All that took some careful forethought. Must’ve been when I was out on my walk…
I’d love to find the video footage of you sneaking into my office and dropping the letter in the desk drawer right next to my security badge so that you’d know I wouldn’t see it until the moment I was ready to leave HQ. Clever!
As a warning to all field agents as to what innocent little Missy K may find herself up to during her lunch breaks, I thought I’d type up all your hard work as a digital postcard. Who knows just how long the cc list will get. I’ve got all the time in the world to think about that one on this long train ride up to Hokkaido! I thought I’d do you the courtesy of sending this draft ahead of time. I don’t know why though. Cuz you suck…but at least this all just proves that despite your overall baseline lameness, you’re still a great listener.

SUBJECT: POSTCARD 188 - LETTER FOUND IN OFFICE DESK
Dearest J,
Thank you so much for taking me on such an enlightening and entertaining mission! You’ve now known me long enough to know that I’m very much a homebody and lead a pretty sedentary and boring life. I guess I’d never dreamed that I would venture very far from Headquarters, let alone take a trip over the ocean to a strange and foreign land on the other side of the globe. I am so grateful that we met way back when, have known each other for so many years, and that you thought of me for your assignment.
My favorite moments were all the silly ones, like the time you couldn’t open that big bag of chips on the train to Osaka. I’ll never forget all those people glaring at us for disturbing the peace. Who knew that a field agent could make so much noise with just one little bag? And then, after I helped you open it, the scowl from that salaryman sitting across from us as the smell of your stinky chips made it over to his nose! Priceless! No one has ever offended so many people on a train in so little time. Congratulations to you!
Or how about when you spent most of the day trying to find a cheap cotton T-shirt in Bangkok, asking all those street vendors if their two dollar t-shirts were 100 percent cotton and none of them were despite their insistence. And after all that, when you finally found one in a mall that fit the bill, you just had to buy it despite the high cost. When I helped you cut off that annoying bulletproof price tag, I couldn’t help but laugh a little inside that you ended up having to spend 35 bucks to get exactly the one you wanted. Expensive on our standards but a small fortune in a third world country! :) Seemed like a big waste of a day too, but I guess you can chalk it up to a city-wide reconnaissance of street vendors and mega malls?
I think the most memorable part was when I chilled back at the field office while you and Agent A wandered deep into those caves on that sketchy Vang Vieng assignment. I had such a great time simply hanging out and doing nothing all day long while you guys shuffled, scooched, scrambled, floated and swam up just about every cave on the map. And I love how my day inspired you and A to take all those chill days later on, seeing how that sometimes lying around with nothing on the agenda is one of the best ways to achieve a mission objective. Hearing about all your adventures when you returned was enough for me that day and I think that’s when you two finally got it.
Oh, and by the way, you’re welcome again for helping you out with that fingernail issue you had from all that scrambling you guys did that day. See? All that hard work takes its toll!
Finally, I wanted to say that, despite my tendencies to hang back from all the daily excitement, I really had the time of my life. Even sitting around watching the world go by out the window, in ways that are so very different than what I’m able to see when I’m back in the Vault, was so awesome and fascinating to me. It’s more than I’d ever imagined I’d find myself up to. I loved our time together even if it was only for short little spurts each day. So please think of me again when planning for even bigger assignments!
Agent J, I hope you won’t hesitate to invite me along on future missions. Travel is such a great way to get out of my comfort zone and see what makes up this wide wonderful world. Even if I just kind of sit there at the field station most of the time, I love knowing that, at the end of the day, I’m able to help out field agents in need to keep all those good times rolling. Looking forward to next time.
Forever Yours,
Agent Nail Clippers

I see you weren’t working alone, K, in writing this nonsense. Operations Dept in on it too?!? I can’t believe you went to such great lengths to get Agent O to authorize opening up the Vault to access my go-bag so that you could take a picture of my actual Agency-issued nail clippers. That means that Agent P must’ve been in on this too. Nice touch. And those other pics? I can’t think of any other way than Agent L giving you full access to my photo folder on the server. Last but not least, Agent R letting you into my office using her master key!? Good lord. Your posse must be much larger than I would have ever expected…kudos to you all.
